R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|
a close with the passing of Pamela Lynn Munn of Lampasas on January |
|
9, 2019, at the age of 62; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Newport News, Virginia, on September 17, |
|
1956, Pam Munn grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Ron, |
|
Rick, Page, and Dusty; she moved with her family to Houston, and she |
|
graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1975, later earning |
|
a degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University; and |
|
WHEREAS, This distinguished Texan began her career in law |
|
enforcement as the first female officer to serve in the Huntsville |
|
Police Department, and she quickly moved up the ranks from patrol |
|
officer to detective and sergeant; she relocated to Austin in |
|
September 1985 to work as an investigator for the Medicaid Fraud |
|
Control Unit of the Texas Attorney General's Office, where her |
|
accomplishments included promotion to supervising investigator; in |
|
1997, she transferred to the Texas State Auditor's Office and |
|
worked with a Special Investigations Unit that dealt with financial |
|
crimes against the state; she was promoted to unit manager and |
|
served until her retirement in 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Munn exchanged the vows of matrimony with her |
|
husband, Chris, in 1986, and they went on to share a rewarding |
|
family life with their three children, Jefferson, Cassandra, and |
|
Amber; in addition to spending time with her loved ones, she was |
|
active in the Lampasas community, volunteering with the local |
|
elections office and library fund-raisers and contributing to a |
|
number of programs and committees at the First United Methodist |
|
Church; she also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and participating in a |
|
local women's bowling league with her team, the Alley Cats; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pam Munn earned the admiration of all who knew her, |
|
not only for her dedication to public service but also for her |
|
exceptional kindness and generosity, and she leaves behind a legacy |
|
that will resonate in the Lampasas community for years to come; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Pamela Lynn Munn and |
|
extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and many friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Pamela Lynn |
|
Munn. |
