R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council plays a
  vital role in the success of the travel and tourism industry
  throughout the Texas Panhandle; and
         WHEREAS, Operated by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, the
  Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council provides key support for the
  tourism sector, which annually generates more than $700 million in
  the local economy; the council promotes unique travel excursions
  that showcase Western heritage and the arts, Route 66 nostalgia,
  and the Panhandle's majestic outdoor beauty along Interstates 40
  and 27; moreover, the CVC brings the world to Amarillo through its
  website, www.VisitAmarillo.com, offers visitor information at the
  Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, and distributes the
  Amarillo Visitor Guide and Visitor Map across the globe; and
         WHEREAS, Council staff help attract major events to town by
  coordinating efforts with such entities as the Amarillo Civic
  Center Complex and Tri-State Fairgrounds; additionally, the
  council enjoys a close working relationship with the Amarillo Film
  Commission, which acts as a liaison between area professionals and
  outside production companies, and the council advocates for local
  nonprofit arts organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Ably led by senior vice president Dan Quandt, the
  council staff includes deputy director Kashion Smith, executive
  assistant Mary Ramirez, administrative assistant Tessa Davis,
  director of brand management Hope Stokes, sales managers Ashley
  Gutierrez and Hollie Hawkins, director of convention services
  Stephanie Andrews, and tourism coordinator Braley Hand; and
         WHEREAS, Serving as an invaluable resource for the Texas
  Panhandle, the Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council is dedicated
  to providing memorable experiences for tourists while fostering
  growth and vitality in the regional travel industry; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Amarillo Convention & Visitor
  Council for its contributions to the Texas Panhandle and extend to
  all those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the council as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
