R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council plays a |
|
vital role in the success of the travel and tourism industry |
|
throughout the Texas Panhandle; and |
|
WHEREAS, Operated by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, the |
|
Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council provides key support for the |
|
tourism sector, which annually generates more than $700 million in |
|
the local economy; the council promotes unique travel excursions |
|
that showcase Western heritage and the arts, Route 66 nostalgia, |
|
and the Panhandle's majestic outdoor beauty along Interstates 40 |
|
and 27; moreover, the CVC brings the world to Amarillo through its |
|
website, www.VisitAmarillo.com, offers visitor information at the |
|
Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, and distributes the |
|
Amarillo Visitor Guide and Visitor Map across the globe; and |
|
WHEREAS, Council staff help attract major events to town by |
|
coordinating efforts with such entities as the Amarillo Civic |
|
Center Complex and Tri-State Fairgrounds; additionally, the |
|
council enjoys a close working relationship with the Amarillo Film |
|
Commission, which acts as a liaison between area professionals and |
|
outside production companies, and the council advocates for local |
|
nonprofit arts organizations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ably led by senior vice president Dan Quandt, the |
|
council staff includes deputy director Kashion Smith, executive |
|
assistant Mary Ramirez, administrative assistant Tessa Davis, |
|
director of brand management Hope Stokes, sales managers Ashley |
|
Gutierrez and Hollie Hawkins, director of convention services |
|
Stephanie Andrews, and tourism coordinator Braley Hand; and |
|
WHEREAS, Serving as an invaluable resource for the Texas |
|
Panhandle, the Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council is dedicated |
|
to providing memorable experiences for tourists while fostering |
|
growth and vitality in the regional travel industry; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend the Amarillo Convention & Visitor |
|
Council for its contributions to the Texas Panhandle and extend to |
|
all those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the council as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
