A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to voter registration application form distribution |
|
|
information reported through the Public Education Information |
|
|
Management System. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 42.006, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-7) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-7) The commissioner by rule shall require each school |
|
|
district and open-enrollment charter school to report each semester |
|
|
through the Public Education Information Management System |
|
|
information regarding: |
|
|
(1) the number of students who are or will be 18 years |
|
|
of age or older during the school year; and |
|
|
(2) the number of officially prescribed voter |
|
|
registration application forms distributed under Section 13.046, |
|
|
Election Code. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
