AN ACT
|
|
relating to the date for the confirmation election for the |
|
Southwestern Travis County Groundwater Conservation District. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Sections 8871.024(a) and (e), Special District |
|
Local Laws Code, are amended to read as follows: |
|
(a) The temporary directors shall order an election in the |
|
district, to be held not later than the uniform election date in |
|
November 2019 [May 2018], to confirm the creation of the district |
|
and to elect the initial directors. |
|
(e) If the district's creation is not confirmed at an |
|
election held under Subsection (a), the candidate who receives a |
|
majority of the votes cast at that election for each of the seven |
|
positions on the board becomes a temporary director of the |
|
district. The temporary directors elected under this subsection |
|
shall order a subsequent election to be held to confirm the creation |
|
of the district and to elect the initial directors not earlier than |
|
the uniform election date in November [May] 2020. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
