S.B. No. 669
 
 
 
 
AN ACT
  relating to the date for the confirmation election for the
  Southwestern Travis County Groundwater Conservation District.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Sections 8871.024(a) and (e), Special District
  Local Laws Code, are amended to read as follows:
         (a)  The temporary directors shall order an election in the
  district, to be held not later than the uniform election date in
  November 2019 [May 2018], to confirm the creation of the district
  and to elect the initial directors.
         (e)  If the district's creation is not confirmed at an
  election held under Subsection (a), the candidate who receives a
  majority of the votes cast at that election for each of the seven
  positions on the board becomes a temporary director of the
  district.  The temporary directors elected under this subsection
  shall order a subsequent election to be held to confirm the creation
  of the district and to elect the initial directors not earlier than
  the uniform election date in November [May] 2020.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
