AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the provision of food service, laundry service, and |
|
|
lawn care to certain mental health facilities and state supported |
|
|
living centers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 551, Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 551.008 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 551.008. REGIONAL LAUNDRY CENTERS. A regional laundry |
|
|
center operated by the commission to provide laundry services to |
|
|
department facilities may contract with federal agencies, other |
|
|
state agencies, or local political subdivisions to provide or |
|
|
receive laundry services. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 551.009(c), Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) The local mental health authority shall contract with |
|
|
Kerrville State Hospital to provide food service, laundry service, |
|
|
and lawn care to the local mental health authority operating a |
|
|
crisis stabilization unit on the grounds of the Kerrville State |
|
|
Hospital as provided by this section. |
|
|
SECTION 3. If before implementing any provision of this Act |
|
|
a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a |
|
|
federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, |
|
|
the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or |
|
|
authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the |
|
|
waiver or authorization is granted. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
