A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the eligibility of a person to serve as the chief
  appraiser for an appraisal district.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 6, Tax Code, is amended by
  adding Section 6.054 to read as follows:
         Sec. 6.054.  RESTRICTION ON EMPLOYMENT AS CHIEF APPRAISER.
  A person may not be employed as the chief appraiser for an appraisal
  district if the person is an elected or appointed officer of a
  taxing unit located wholly or partly in the appraisal district.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect January 1, 2020.
