A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to guidelines for the proper care and display of the United |
|
|
States and Texas flags by public schools. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 7, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 7.045 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 7.045. PROPER CARE AND DISPLAY OF UNITED STATES AND |
|
|
TEXAS FLAGS. The agency shall: |
|
|
(1) by rule develop and adopt guidelines for the |
|
|
proper care and display of the United States and Texas flags with |
|
|
respect to the duty under Section 1.003 to fly the flags; and |
|
|
(2) publish the guidelines on the agency's Internet |
|
|
website. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
