A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the requirement that an applicant for a reciprocal |
|
license, certificate, or permit to practice barbering or |
|
cosmetology pass an examination; authorizing a fee. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 1603.204(b), Occupations Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
(b) The person must: |
|
(1) submit an application for the license, |
|
certificate, or permit to the department; [and] |
|
(2) pay fees in an amount prescribed by the |
|
commission, including any applicable license, certificate, [or] |
|
permit, or examination fee; and |
|
(3) pass the applicable examination required for |
|
issuance of the license, certificate, or permit. |
|
SECTION 2. (a) Not later than December 1, 2019, the Texas |
|
Commission of Licensing and Regulation shall adopt rules necessary |
|
to implement the changes in law made by this Act. |
|
(b) Section 1603.204(b), Occupations Code, as amended by |
|
this Act, applies only to an application for the issuance of a |
|
license, certificate, or permit submitted to the Texas Department |
|
of Licensing and Regulation on or after the effective date of this |
|
Act. An application submitted before the effective date of this Act |
|
is governed by the law in effect on the date the application was |
|
submitted, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|
purpose. |

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
