A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a study on the use of forensic psychology in suits |
|
affecting the parent-child relationship. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. (a) The Office of Court Administration of the |
|
Texas Judicial System shall conduct a study regarding the use of |
|
forensic psychology in suits affecting the parent-child |
|
relationship. In conducting the study, the office shall examine: |
|
(1) the utility and efficacy of using forensic |
|
psychology to assist courts in rendering orders in the best |
|
interest of the child; and |
|
(2) the total cost of a forensic psychology evaluation |
|
and the feasibility of regularly requiring or providing those |
|
services in suits affecting the parent-child relationship. |
|
(b) Not later than September 1, 2020, the Office of Court |
|
Administration of the Texas Judicial System shall file a report |
|
containing the results of the study and recommendations for |
|
legislation with the governor, the lieutenant governor, and the |
|
legislature. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2021. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
