A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of |
|
Texas to commission peace officers. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. The heading to Article 2.126, Code of Criminal |
|
Procedure, is amended to read as follows: |
|
Art. 2.126. PEACE OFFICERS COMMISSIONED BY THE |
|
ALABAMA-COUSHATTA [INDIAN] TRIBE OF TEXAS AND THE KICKAPOO |
|
TRADITIONAL TRIBE OF TEXAS. |
|
SECTION 2. Article 2.126(a), Code of Criminal Procedure, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
(a) The tribal council of the Alabama-Coushatta [Indian] |
|
Tribe of Texas or the tribal council of the Kickapoo Traditional |
|
Tribe of Texas is authorized to employ and commission peace |
|
officers for the purpose of enforcing state law within the |
|
boundaries of the tribe's reservation. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
