A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to disclosure of a beneficiary to a funeral director under |
|
|
a life insurance policy. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 1103, Insurance Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subchapter E to read as follows: |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER E. DISCLOSURE OF BENEFICIARY |
|
|
Sec. 1103.201. APPLICABILITY OF SUBCHAPTER. This subchapter |
|
|
applies to a life insurance company that: |
|
|
(1) issues or delivers a life insurance policy in this |
|
|
state; or |
|
|
(2) is organized under the laws of this state. |
|
|
Sec. 1103.202. FUNERAL DIRECTORS. If a funeral director |
|
|
licensed under Chapter 651, Occupations Code, is directing an |
|
|
insured's funeral, a life insurance company shall disclose the |
|
|
beneficiary of the insured's life insurance policy to the director |
|
|
on the director's request. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
