A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment to prohibit an appraisal |
|
|
district or the appraisal review board for an appraisal district |
|
|
from requiring a property owner to pay a fee in connection with a |
|
|
protest filed by the owner with the board. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 18, Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) An appraisal entity or the board of equalization for |
|
|
an appraisal entity may not require a property owner to pay a fee in |
|
|
connection with a protest filed by the owner with the board of an |
|
|
action that the Legislature by general law authorizes to be the |
|
|
subject of a protest. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit an |
|
|
appraisal district or the appraisal review board for an appraisal |
|
|
district from requiring a property owner to pay a fee in connection |
|
|
with a protest filed by the owner with the board. |
