SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 277

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Arturo Elias Ayub, who has been named Mr. Amigo 2018; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded each year during the Charro Days Fiesta to a Mexican citizen who has contributed greatly to the friendship and understanding between the United States and Mexico; and

WHEREAS, Arturo Elias Ayub is a businessman and philanthropist from Mexico City; he currently serves as chief executive officer of Multimedia and Strategic Alliances of América Móvil and of the TELMEX Telcel Foundation, director of Uno TV, and president of the Instituto TELMEX del Deporte; he also serves on the boards of numerous successful businesses; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Elias Ayub has played an important role in promoting an array of projects in the fields of education, health care, human development, and natural disaster relief, and he has been a strong supporter of sports with a social purpose; the TELMEX Telcel Foundation received the 2013 Social Responsibility and Sustainable Growth Award for its work in organizing the 2012 Homeless World Cup; and

WHEREAS, Arturo Elias Ayub has been instrumental in creating numerous international strategic alliances, and it is fitting that his efforts receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby commend Arturo Elias Ayub on his many contributions to the relationship between the United States and Mexico and extend congratulations to him on his selection as Mr. Amigo 2018; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
