SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 342
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Ray Deason retired as assistant superintendent |
|
of the Ore City Independent School District in September 2017, |
|
drawing to a close an exemplary career in education that spanned |
|
half a century; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2006, Dr. Ray Deason joined Ore City |
|
Independent School District as assistant superintendent, and |
|
during his outstanding tenure with the district, he |
|
distinguished himself through his well-rounded leadership and |
|
expertise and earned the lasting respect and admiration of his |
|
colleagues; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Deason began his career as a speech |
|
pathologist for Henderson Independent School District, working |
|
across all of its campuses; he devoted a total of 33 years to that |
|
district, briefly teaching at the junior high level before |
|
accepting a position teaching fifth grade at Montgomery |
|
Elementary; at the age of 27, he became a principal at Central |
|
Elementary, and he later assumed the role of principal of |
|
Northside Intermediate School, where he remained for more than |
|
two decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, In the course of five decades in education, |
|
Dr. Deason also held employment with Belton Independent School |
|
District and The University of Texas; over the years, he garnered |
|
numerous honors for his efforts, including being named an H-E-B |
|
Excellence in Education semifinalist, Region 7 Texas Elementary |
|
Principals and Supervisors Association Elementary Principal of |
|
the Year, and Principal of the Year by the Region 7 Texas |
|
Association of Secondary School Principals; furthermore, he was |
|
a statewide appointee to a committee for the Principals' |
|
Incentive Program under Governor George W. Bush; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Deason holds a bachelor's degree in speech |
|
pathology and educational psychology, a master's degree in |
|
education and special education, and a doctorate in educational |
|
leadership and general administration from Stephen F. Austin |
|
State University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence, Dr. Ray Deason helped foster a |
|
supportive and challenging educational environment for countless |
|
students in the Lone Star State, and his contributions will |
|
continue to resonate for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate Dr. Ray Deason on his |
|
retirement as assistant superintendent of the Ore City |
|
Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Deason as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas Senate. |
