SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 383
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Edward Melvin Trapp
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Rancho Viejo in paying tribute to the life of Edward
  Melvin "Ted" Trapp, who died March 30, 2016; and
         WHEREAS, Ted Trapp was born to Robert and Noreen Trapp in
  Longview, Washington; as a child he lived in Illinois, Oklahoma,
  and Rhode Island, and his family eventually settled in Kansas
  City, Missouri; and
         WHEREAS, Ted served with distinction in the United States
  Navy during World War II; he crossed the Pacific Ocean as a
  quartermaster on the Third Fleet under W. F. Halsey, and he was
  aboard one of the first ships to enter Tokyo Bay in anticipation
  of the Japanese surrender; and
         WHEREAS, After the war, Ted returned to Kansas City and
  married the love of his life, Margaret Urech Trapp, and they
  shared 69 years together; they were blessed with one son,
  Timothy, and with three grandchildren and two
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Ted enjoyed a successful career as a businessman;
  for many years he owned T.M.T., Incorporated, a construction
  company that completed work on major shopping centers,
  McDonald's restaurants, and public works and industrial sites
  throughout Kansas City and the Midwest; he and Margaret later
  moved to the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and they owned and operated
  the Rancho Viejo Resort and Country Club for 32 years; and
         WHEREAS, A man of wisdom, strength, and generosity, Ted
  Trapp was a highly respected member of the community, and he left
  behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were
  privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Edward Melvin Trapp; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Ted Trapp.
