SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 394
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Ralph Cervantes for his many contributions to the field |
|
|
of health management; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ralph Cervantes served the nation with |
|
|
distinction in the United States Army and the United States Army |
|
|
Reserve for 20 years as a behavioral science specialist and |
|
|
combat medic; a native of San Antonio, he served in Operation |
|
|
Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield, and he earned a |
|
|
sociology degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio |
|
|
after his retirement from military service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1992, he joined the staff of the San Antonio |
|
|
Health District as a health program specialist, and he became |
|
|
active in case management for patients with HIV/AIDS; he went on |
|
|
to serve with the Texas Department of State Health Services/Texas |
|
|
Health Steps Program, and he played a major role in the 1996 |
|
|
creation of the Provider Relations Outreach Meeting program, or |
|
|
PROM, a collaborative effort which has become an integral part of |
|
|
the state's provision of care to Medicaid beneficiaries; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After retiring in 2018 from a position with |
|
|
Community First Health Plans, Mr. Cervantes has continued to |
|
|
serve PROM as a volunteer; he works tirelessly to ensure that its |
|
|
annual conference contributes to the common good and well-being |
|
|
of the people of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ralph Cervantes has had a significant impact on |
|
|
the delivery of health care in our state, and it is truly fitting |
|
|
that he receive special recognition for his efforts; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Ralph Cervantes on his many |
|
|
achievements in the field of health management and extend to him |
|
|
best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
