SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 666
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Roy David Peña Sr.
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Roy David Peña Sr., who died
  February 17, 2019, at the age of 72; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Roy Peña was born on
  February 12, 1947, and his parents moved the family back to Texas
  soon afterward; he graduated from Edinburg High School in 1965,
  and he earned a bachelor's degree in education from Pan American
  College; and
         WHEREAS, He coached at Stephen F. Austin Elementary School
  until he was called to serve his country; he served in the Texas
  Army National Guard and later served as a special agent for the
  United States Border Patrol, and he was in charge of the agency's
  first horse patrol in Brownsville; he later worked as a court
  security officer at the United States Federal Courthouse in
  McAllen; and
         WHEREAS, Roy shared 48 years of marriage with Noelia Peña;
  he was blessed with a son, the late Roy David Peña Jr., and a
  daughter, Marty, and his two grandchildren enriched his life
  immeasurably; he cherished time spent traveling with his family,
  and he took great joy in tending his ranch accompanied by his
  grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A kind and humble man, Roy Peña was known for his
  love of God, family, and the outdoors; he was beloved by many, and
  he will long be remembered with respect and admiration by all who
  were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Roy David Peña Sr.; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Roy Peña.
