SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 777
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Robert Floyd on his distinguished career and his
  outstanding service on behalf of military veterans and the state
  and nation; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the 101st Airborne Division of the
  United States Army, Robert Floyd served with distinction during the
  Vietnam War, and he went on to build a rewarding career as a
  legislative lobbyist, trade executive, and education advocate; and
         WHEREAS, Robert has lobbied before the Texas Legislature
  and the United States Congress for more than 35 years; he was a
  two-term Eanes Independent School District Trustee, and he
  taught as an adjunct instructor at Austin Community College; he
  is the author of The Courage to Lead: An Essential Guide for
  Volunteer Leaders, Board Trustees, and Public Servants and of
  many articles on nonprofit management and public advocacy; and
         WHEREAS, As chairman of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans
  Monument Committee, Robert Floyd deserves high accolades for
  leading the movement to honor Texas veterans of the Vietnam War;
  it was his vision to place a monument on the grounds of the Texas
  Capitol in honor of those veterans who heroically served their
  nation; the monument depicts five Texas soldiers in action and
  entombed inside are the names of the 3,417 Texans who did not
  return home from the war; and
         WHEREAS, Robert Floyd is an esteemed citizen who has earned
  the admiration of leaders in both the public and private sectors;
  he is retiring from Hance Scarborough, Limited Liability
  Partnership, after a long career of service to his community and
  the state; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby commend Robert Floyd on his invaluable service
  and leadership and his exceptional accomplishments and extend to
  him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
