SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 790
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Colonel Glenn Hill, who is retiring as superintendent
  of the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen after 53 years of
  outstanding service to the United States Marine Corps and the
  Marine Military Academy; and
         WHEREAS, Colonel Glenn Hill was commissioned as an officer
  in the United States Marine Corps in 1966 after earning a degree
  from Lamar University; he was deployed to Vietnam and also served
  in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm before
  serving as chief of staff for United States Marine Corps,
  Atlantic; and
         WHEREAS, Among the many awards and decorations he received
  during his active duty career are the Defense Superior Service
  Medal, the Legion of Merit with gold star, the Defense
  Meritorious Service with oak-leaf cluster, and the Navy
  Commendation Medal with "V" device and gold star; and
         WHEREAS, After retiring from active duty service in 1996,
  Colonel Hill joined the Marine Military Academy as support
  activities director; he later became chief of staff, and in 2007,
  he was named superintendent; under his leadership, the academy has
  continued its long tradition of combining Marine Corps values with
  a rigorous curriculum to produce a quality educational environment
  where hard work and stellar performance are prized; and
         WHEREAS, Colonel Glenn Hill has served our nation and state
  with distinction, and it is truly fitting that he receive special
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby commend Colonel Glenn Hill on more than a half
  century of service to the nation and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
