SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 795

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the fourth annual Harlingen Police Department BBQ Cook-off, which is taking place June 29, 2019, in Harlingen; and

WHEREAS, This much-anticipated yearly event is sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the organization's state championship cook-offs and attracts accomplished pitmasters from across the state who put their skills to the test as they compete to produce the tastiest entries and earn cash prizes in several different categories; and

WHEREAS, The cook-off is hosted by the Harlingen Police Department, and proceeds from the event will benefit the Cameron County Children's Advocacy Centers, Monica's House and Maggie's House; and

WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and the Harlingen Police Department BBQ Cook-off is sure to provide cuisine to satisfy the most discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the fourth annual Harlingen Police Department BBQ Cook-off and extend to them best wishes for a memorable event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the Harlingen Police Department as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
