IN RE:
HB70 by González, Mary (Relating to a strategic plan goal by the Department of Agriculture to prevent crop diseases and plant pests in this state.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Agriculture Code to require the Department of Agriculture (TDA) to develop a strategic plan to prevent crop diseases and plant pests in the state. The plan would require TDA to improve its management practices concerning crop diseases and plant pests, increase its activities directly related to crop disease and plant pest prevention, better monitor instances of crop diseases and plant pests, and provide education regarding crop diseases and plant pests. Based on the analysis of TDA, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
