TO:

IN RE:
HB265 by Blanco (Relating to the collection and reporting of information from motor vehicle stops made by law enforcement.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to include information on questions regarding immigration status of an individual stopped for alleged motor vehicle violations in state and local law enforcement agencies' written policies on racial profiling and peace officer reporting requirements.

Based on information provided by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, the Department of Public Safety, the Office of the Attorney General, the Commission on Law Enforcement, and the Parks and Wildlife Department, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement estimates some local governments may have programming and printing costs associated with implementing provisions of the bill.

El Paso County does not anticipate a significant fiscal impact to their county.
