IN RE:
HB364 by Tinderholt (Relating to the creation of a central database containing information about defendants required to have an ignition interlock device installed on a motor vehicle and submission of information to and access to information in that database.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to the creation of a central database for information on defendants required to have an ignition interlock device could be absorbed using existing resources.
The bill would require the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to create a central database containing information on defendants required to have an ignition interlock device installed on a vehicle and requires certain parties that restrict a defendant to the operation of a motor vehicle equipped with an ignition interlock device to submit certain information on the defendant and the restriction to DPS for inclusion in the new database.
Local Government Impact
According to the Texas Association of Counties, the bill would have an impact on counties; for example, additional data entry staff could be required. The overall extent of the fiscal impact cannot be estimated at this time.
