IN RE:
HB369 by Cain (Relating to jurisdiction in a suit for adoption of a child and the mandatory transfer of certain suits affecting the parent-child relationship to the court in which a suit for adoption is pending.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code to require an adoption petition to state whether jurisdiction is afforded by the general suit affecting the parent-child relationship provisions or under the provision establishing jurisdiction over adoptions and would require the transfer of certain proceedings from a court continuing jurisdiction to a court in which an adoption is pending. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
