No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to provide grand jurors the same employment protections provided to jurors in the trial of a civil or criminal case. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and Texas Workforce Commission, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
