No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Penal Code to make it a violation for any person to knowingly sell, rent, lease, loan, or give a firearm to any person receiving court-ordered inpatient mental health services, any person acquitted in a criminal case by reason of insanity or lack of mental responsibility, any person determined to have an intellectual disability and committed to a residential care facility, or any person determined incompetent to stand trial in a criminal case. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
