IN RE:
HB642 by Raney (Relating to authorizing an optional county fee on vehicle registration in certain counties to be used for transportation projects.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code related to authorizing an optional fee on vehicle registration in certain counties to include additional counties.

According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, (TxDMV) the bill would have no fiscal impact to the State since programming is currently in place to charge a new mobility fee in counties in which the fee becomes effective.

Local Government Impact

According to TxDMV, the estimated revenue gain to Brazos County if the bill should pass and if the county's current application for a regional mobility authority is approved would be $7,482,887 for fiscal years 2020 through 2024.
