No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to require certain municipalities to establish a progressive disciplinary matrix for disciplinary actions taken against police officers and establishes certain requirements for this matrix.

According to the Commission on Law Enforcement, no fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. 

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Municipal League, there would be a fiscal impact associated with developing and implementing the required disciplinary matrix. There could be an additional fiscal impact were cities to experience more challenges to employment decisions or to incur additional potential liability due to the actions of police officers.
