HB706 by Bernal (Relating to the eligibility of certain children who are deaf or hard of hearing for audiology services under the school health and related services program.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This analysis assumes that the provisions of the bill relating to the eligibility of certain children with hearing impairments for audiology services under the school health and related services program could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
The bill would provide additional revenue through the federal School Health and Related Services (SHARS) program to school districts and charter schools that provide audiology services to certain students under a plan created under Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. Section 794). The Health and Human Services Commission estimates the additional reimbursements would total $1.0 million for the 2020-21 biennium on a statewide basis.
