LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2019

TO:
Honorable Senfronia Thompson, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB870 by Price (Relating to Medicaid telemedicine and telehealth services.), As Introduced

The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time.

The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to amend reimbursement policy related to telemedicine and telehealth services under Medicaid, including Medicaid managed care. According to HHSC, there would be a significant fiscal impact but HHSC does not have the information necessary to make appropriate assumptions to determine that impact.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
