IN RE:
HB920 by Springer (Relating to the jurisdiction of the statutory county courts of Cooke County in family law matters.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to extend to a county court at law in Cooke County concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in family law cases and provide that the district clerk serve as the clerk for the county court at law in family cases and the county clerk serve as the clerk for the county court at law in other cases. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and the Department of Criminal Justice, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
Local Government Impact
Cooke County does not anticipate a fiscal impact to the county.
