HB926 by Krause (Relating to the waiting period for a divorce on the grounds of insupportability.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code to prohibit, in certain circumstances, judicial grants of divorce within 180 days of the filing of the suit for dissolution. The change in law would apply only to suits for dissolution of marriage filed on or after the bill's effective date.

Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
