No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed the provisions of the bill relating to law enforcement agency policies regarding the placement of a child taken into possession by a peace officer during a person's arrest and placement information provided to the person could be implemented using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Association of Counties, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office expects a significant fiscal impact from the bill. The county stated that if they bill were enacted, it would impact the patrol division, victim services, and/or correctional division requiring an increase in staffing. There would be a need to increase personnel not only in the patrol division, but potentially in the jail.
