IN RE:
HB1216 by Thompson, Senfronia (relating to orders of nondisclosure for certain victims of trafficking of persons or compelling prostitution.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to expand nondisclosure based on human trafficking victimization and entitle a victim of human trafficking to be informed of the victim's right to petition the court for an order of nondisclosure.
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and the Office of the Attorney General, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
Local Government Impact
According to the district clerks in Chambers County, Caldwell County and Hidalgo County, no significant fiscal impact on their counties is anticipated.
The District Clerk in Tom Green County anticipates possible significant fiscal impact on their county due to potential increased workload resulting from provisions of the bill, however the impact cannot be determined at this time.
