HB1287 by Israel (Relating to the prima facie speed limit on certain streets and highways.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to lower the prima facie speed limit from 30 to 25 in an urban district on a street other than an alley, authorizes a municipality to impose a lower speed limit of 20 miles per hour under certain conditions, and changes certain traffic reporting requirements.

According to the Department of Public Safety, no fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Municipal League, although the overall fiscal implication of the bill cannot be determined, there may be some costs associated with changing, altering or removing signage depicting the speed limit.
