No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to prohibit a procurement organization or person associated with a hospital in possession of a decedent's body to make an anatomical gift of the decedent's body. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house or on September 1, 2019.
