No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Agriculture Code to create a nine-member Texas Olive Oil Industry Advisory Board, with all members appointed by the Commissioner of Agriculture. One of the members would be from the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. The bill would allow the board to accept gifts and grants from any source to carry out a function of the board. The Department of Agriculture and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service have indicated that the provisions of the bill could be implemented with existing resources.
The bill would take immediate effect upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
