No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill amends the Education Code relating to an intercollegiate athletics fee at Texas Southern University. Under the provisions of the bill, the section limiting the collection of the fee, and the section that contains an expiration date would be repealed, authorizing Texas Southern University to continue to collect this fee in the amount of $10 per semester credit hour.
The institution has stated that the fee is currently being collected, and there would be no increase in the fee revenue for the institution.
