Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1521 by Burrows (Relating to liability of certain political subdivisions in certain workers' compensation actions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Labor Code relating to liability of certain political subdivisions in certain workers' compensation actions. Based on information provided by the Texas Department of Insurance, this analysis assumes that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The Texas Association of Counties anticipates a significant fiscal impact to the Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool. However, the bill is not expected to have a significant fiscal impact to counties.

The Texas Municipal League anticipates a significant impact to cities; however, the cost cannot be determined because it is unknown how and to what extent a city would incur liability.
