FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1597 by Lambert (Relating to establishing residency for purposes of admission into public schools.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow a person whose parent or guardian is an active-duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, to establish residency in a district by providing the school district a copy of a military order requiring the parent's or guardian's transfer to a military installation in, or adjacent to, the district's attendance zone.
Based on information provided by the Texas Education Agency, it is assumed that any additional costs incurred as a result of implementing the provisions of the bill would be minimal.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
