IN RE:
HB1625 by Bell, Keith (Relating to the creation of the criminal offense of false report of misconduct by emergency responders.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Penal Code to create the offense of false report of misconduct by emergency responders. Under the provisions of the bill, this offense would be punished as the greater of one category of offense lower than the most serious offense falsely reported or a Class A misdemeanor.
The Office of Court Administration indicates the modifications outlined in the bill's provisions would not result in a significant fiscal impact.
This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions for criminal offenses would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or the demand for state correctional resources.
Local Government Impact
According to Harris County, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated to their county from the bill.
