FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 3, 2019

TO:
Honorable Garnet Coleman, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1662 by Herrero (Relating to grants awarded to reimburse counties for the cost of monitoring defendants and victims in criminal cases involving family violence.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to grants awarded to reimburse counties for the cost of monitoring defendants and victims in criminal cases involving family violence could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The Texas Association of Counties estimates there may be a positive fiscal impact on counties from provisions of the bill. However, since the amount of funding that will be made available for grants is unknown, it is not possible to determine the extent of that impact at this time.
