HB1901 by Bonnen, Greg (relating to the disclosure of certain mental health records of deceased state hospital patients.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The would amend the Health and Safety Code to allow a professional to disclose confidential information to a descendant of a patient of a state hospital if the patient has been deceased for at least 50 years and the disclosure does not violate the expressed preference of the deceased patient.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
