IN RE:
HB1981 by Cole (Relating to the establishment of a new open-enrollment charter school or campus.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to the establishment of a new open-enrollment charter school or campus could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
The bill would expand a charter school's notification requirements to include requests to add a new campus through an expansion amendment. Charter schools are required to provide notification to an independent school district via certified mail and submit the return receipt to the Texas Education Agency as evidence of notification. This would result in some minimal administrative costs to charter schools.
