April 8, 2019

TO:
Honorable Terry Canales, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:

Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2043 by Meza (Relating to the designation of State Highway 356 in Irving as a historic highway.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Subchapter A, Chapter 442, Transportation Code, to require the Texas Historical Commission to cooperate with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to designate, interpret, and market a portion of State Highway 356 as a Texas historic highway. TxDOT would not be required to design, construct, or erect a marker for the highway unless a grant or donation of funds is made to TxDOT to cover the costs.

Based on the information provided by the Historical Commission and TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within the agencies' existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
