LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 17, 2019

TO:
Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2116 by White (Relating to the inclusion of certain students as students at risk of dropping out of school.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

The bill would require school districts to provide compensatory, intensive, or accelerated instructional services to additional students who have been identified as at risk of dropping out of school. Districts would not receive additional state aid to serve the increased number of students. Therefore, this analysis assumes districts may need to restructure the current implementation of this program or incur additional costs to ensure they are serving all eligible students.
