According to the Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Department of Public Safety does not have data pertaining to the number of applicants for a license to carry a handgun who are retired state and federal officers. Absent this data on the total number of applicants subject to the bill's provisions, the fiscal impact cannot be determined.
