HB2157 by Middleton (Relating to equal parenting orders in suits affecting the parent-child relationship.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code to require a court to enter a possession order that provides for equal possession of a child each year unless the court does not appoint the parents as joint conservators or finds that it is not in the best interest of the child.
 
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
 
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
