No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to conduct a trauma history screening for certain offenders. TDCJ states that the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
Local Government Impact
According to TDCJ, the cost to local Community Supervision and Corrections Departments would depend on the type of assessment provided and any necessary treatment based on the outcome of the assessment.
According to the Texas Association of Counties, no fiscal impact to counties is anticipated.
