The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to require a state agency who receives a required report of a radioactive substance into the environment accidentally to notify political subdivisions of the state where the release occurred. The information in this notice would be confidential and not subject to disclosure.
According to the Department of Public Safety (DPS), no fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
According the Department of State Health Services, any costs associated with implementing this bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
